Library Closure During Corona Virus Epidemic

Following the announcement by the Prime Minister yesterday we feel it appropriate to close the Library of Avalon until the present restrictions are lifted.
We are doing this to safeguard the health and well-being of our members and volunteer staff.
We also want you to know that the library will be safe to use when we reopen.
We will send an email out to all our members as soon as we know when we shall reopen.
If you have any books on loan you can keep them until the library reopens.
Only if you are moving house away from the area and therefore need to return the books before you go you can leave them with a member of staff at the Courtyard Books. Please include a clearly printed note with your name and that these books are for return to the Library of Avalon.
We may be postponing our AGM which is normally held in April / May. We were planning to hold it in the first week of May but I will be checking with the Charity Commission on the possibility of delaying this to later in the Summer. We will keep you informed by email of this.
In the meantime, on behalf of the Trustees and Volunteers may I wish you very good health.

Richard JL Newman
Secretary of The Library of Avalon

More Comfort – Greater Flexibility

We have continued the refurbishment of the library by replacing the old bar tables and uncomfortable wooden chairs with pine tables and comfortable banqueting chairs.

It is now easier and more comfortable to come and read our wonderful books in the Reading Room and we can now also seat 30 there comfortably for events.

Or we can clear all seating and tables away for a stand-up event.

Click here to visit the page for hiring the Reading Room

The Library Reading Room is available for hire in the mornings and the evenings at a very fair price. For details Call or visit the Library during opening hours 1.30 – 4.30 pm.
